There are just some times when the decisions of life and not clear cut. What do you do when everything you do try to solve a problem doesn’t work? What happens when you get to a point where there are no other options and it seems like its just time to walk away?
Anytime you walk away, there is pain. Whether its a frustrated husband walking away from an obstinate and controlling wife or a tired parent dealing with a wayward child. What do you do when it seems like all your options for rescuing the situation are gone?
Honestly, you just get to a point where you trust God and take the next step. Then after that, you see how people react and you take the next step and then the next. In the process, you must never lose sight of the fact that you can’t control how other people are going to react to your steps and that God can be trusted in any and every situation. We see this clearly stated by Paul in Philippians 4
…for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength…And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. (NLT, 11b-13, 19)
Keep in mind that when Paul wrote this, he was most likely under house arrest in Rome. Everything was not going well for him at the time. When it comes to unknown circumstances you’ve just got to trust God and rely on the strength He provides. Also, remember that just because some doesn’t agree with your path doesn’t necessarily mean it’s wrong. After all His thoughts are not our thoughts – He is God and none of us are God.
If you don’t already know it, figure out your next step (make sure to include God in the process). put aside the fear and move forward.
